Minority co-production support

EFI has two calls per year for international co-productions in which Estonian producer has a minority participation. Estonian film producer can participate in the making of an international feature film, full-length documentary film, animated feature film or animated short film project provided that the main producer of the film is not a legal entity registered in Estonia and that the applicant will share pro rata in the worldwide proceeds of the film production.

An international minority co-production film shall be in Estonian or with Estonian subtitles and shall be screened in cinemas or on streaming platforms in Estonia within one year of its international premiere.

Creative and production grading table of the Estonian side of the production
Estonian participation must meet the following criteria:

1) feature film – grade 5, of which at least two points are from the creative grading table;
2) documentary film – grade 3, of which at least one point is from the creative grading table;
3) animated film – grade 5, of which at least two points are from the creative grading table.
