Development support
Development support shall be allocated for the development of a full-length feature film, animation film, documentary film or TV mini-series. Upon further financing of the film project, the amount of development support shall be included in the amount of production support. The recipient of development support shall spend at least 50% of the EFI support allocated for his or her film project on economic activity in Estonia.
Development support can be applied for by a legal entity whose principal activity is the production of films and to whom the property rights of the authors of the audio-visual work are transferred or licensed. The applicant has to be entered in the Estonian Business Register before the payment is made.

Estonia selects Anna Hints’ documentary “Smoke Sauna Sisterhood” as the national entry for the best International Feature Film Academy Award
A committee convened by the Estonian Film Institute (EFI) selected “Smoke Sauna Sisterhood”, a feature documentary by Anna Hints, to compete for the annual Oscar award of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the best International Feature Film category.
